The story behind one of North Yorkshire's enduring racing partnerships

Harrowells' Simon Black is no stranger to horse racing. His father, Alan, and grandfather, George, forged a partnership with trainer Mick Easterby that has sent out many winners on both the Flat and over Jumps.

In a recent interview, Mick Easterby explains how his racing partnership with the Black family all began with a chance meeting in the 1950s at George Black's Raskelf Farm and how, over the decades, Mick and Alan have sent out many well-known winners including multiple winning sprinter Blessingindisguise, bought as a yearling, dual purpose 12 times winner Middlethorpe and, more recently, homebred winning filly Babouska.
